finlandia

when i was little, my grandfather or grandmother, i can not remember, gave me a jewelry box filled with old gold, or "gold"jewelry. they were halfbroken, rusty and pearls were missing on many of them. my mother had one to, and i loved opening it, taking out all the necklaces and try them on, even though i was not allowed.
no one really knows where our family has it's roots. some say bulgaria, some say from the gypsies. maybe that explains all the fake jewelry.
a couple of years ago, my grandmother gave me a special necklace. it belonged to her mothers mother or something, and i could tell by the way she gave it to me, it ment a lot to her. and she said she wanted me to give it to my doughter some day.
this, in combination with the simplicity in finnish design and architecture, inspired me when making these outfits. the combo superfluous and simple fabulousness.

light fabric. long sleeves with open holes on the sides. shoulders. steel/diodes/glitter/lights/wires/whatever i can find constitutes the front of the dress.

again long sleeves. again glittery stuff on the front. loose sleeves attached to a chain around the neck that holds it all up.

nokia dress. sewn tubes all around attached to a squareshaped neckline, and one that goes across one shoulder.
